Associate Manager, Programs & Community Initiatives
The American Diabetes Association, the nation's leading health organization focused on diabetes,
is seeking an Associate Manager, Programs & Community Initiatives to support our efforts in the
Eastern New England (Boston, MA) office. The ENE area includes Eastern Massachusetts, Maine,
Rhode Island & New Hampshire.
The ideal candidate is an independent go-getter, who works well in team settings, & takes
direction. You will have experience working among diverse communities through educational
efforts, volunteer development (includes recruitment & training), community organizing & outreach
through faith-based & youth initiatives. Primary responsibilities for this position will include, but are
not limited to community development, program implementation, volunteer recruitment, & public
presentations/speaking and administrative details (maintaining files) & supervising volunteers &
student interns.
Additional Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* Demonstrated experience in program implementation, community organizing, public health &
policy, volunteer management, & developing/maintaining partnerships with medical, community &
faith based groups/institutions.
* Experience working with & among diverse communities & in particular communities of color
* Administrative & detail-oriented with excellent verbal & writing skills
* Familiarity with grant writing
* Ability to prioritize key assignments & work independently
* Must have excellent command of Microsoft Office applications
* Must be willing & able to work evenings & weekends
* Must have a driver’s license in good standing & access to an automobile as frequent local travel
is required
* Must be willing & able to travel out of state for 2-5 days at a time
* Bilingual verbal & written skills (Spanish/French/Haitian Creole) highly desirable.
* Other responsibilities as assigned
* Ability to lift 25 pounds
